  Enjoyed the Memorial

  probably not a popular opinion on here....and haven't been actively attending meetings since 1988....(i know i know a submarine attender) however thoroughly enjoyed attending this evening...was good to see lots of people i remember whilst growing up in this faith, they were genuine and the whole atmosphere was one of love.

  sure if i suddenly wanted to become active again and didn't change my lifestyle they would drop me like a bomb.....however i haven't and won't and they didn't and don't.

  this works for me.. i cannot demonize the witnesses on what i have seen tonight.

  i had been conducting a clandestine affair for the past forty years with a jw chinchilla i met on jw ratz.com.

  we only met to do drugs and poop on each other, but i knew in my heart it was something really really special.. now i am bereft!.

  many of us know that watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement:.

  tl;dr: on april 9, watch tower filed a response to the eff's motion to quash (filed march 26) regarding the subpoena submitted to reddit in an attempt to find /u/darkspilver's identity.. the wt response is publicly available here as a pdf, from the site court listener.. a number of other documents relating to the case are available on the same site, here.. and the eff's motion to quash is available on the eff's website here.. details: as i'm sure many of us know, watch tower (yes, two words in this case) has issued a subpoena to reddit to try to gain /u/darkspilver's identity due to accusations of copyright infringement.

  specifically, watch tower is claiming copyright infringement for two things: first, darkspilver posted the back page of the november 2018 watchtower which was an article entitled "what gift can we give to jehovah?” which explained how to donate.

  Candida auris came into the published literature and knowledge in 2009, so relatively recent. It was first reported in the ear canal of a person in Japan.

  One important point that needs to be made, I think, is that after a legally-defined period of time ALL copyrights will eventually EXPIRE, and when the copyright expires, the original work is said to be "in the public domain," which means that a person can use those public domain works in any way they choose.

  An example - someone I know very well produced the "Watchtower Book Shelf" CDs and (maybe) DVDs a number of years ago. This was popularly known as "The Watchtower BS CD" for poetic reasons. It contained PUBLIC DOMAIN Watchtower publications - early books that were never properly (according to the laws then in effect) copyrighted by the WTB&TS goofballs.

  Another example is the CDs of VERY OLD Zion's Watch Tower magazines. Those original magazines are in the PUBLIC DOMAIN.

  Here's an interesting thing: The ORIGINAL works are in the PUBLIC DOMAIN, but the NEW publication of those old magazines in a NEW MEDIA is under a NEW copyright -- you cannot make copies of ZWT CDs and distribute (pirate) them. If you do, you might need to hire a lawyer to defend you!

  Someday in the future, those ZWT CDs will come into the PUBLIC DOMAIN, and then they can be burned into holographic crystals such as Superman has in his Library in The Fortress of Solitude. When that day comes, UADNA will be there!

  Copyright is NOT about protecting only the right to profit from one's work.

  The idea is that if a person creates something - art, a book, a religious screed, the person who creates the work is entitled to have some say into how that work gets used. Don't believe me? DO SOME RESEARCH.

  Now, for a time, times, and half a time the Watchtower was STUPID. They believed their own nonsense about the end of the world and so they did not follow the law about getting copyright protection back in the early days.

  The Laws have changed and have become much more liberal, thanks to the efforts of Sonny Bono and the American Rock n' Roll Music Industry.
